“The law is trite that a confessional statement is admissible if it is direct,; cogent, positive and relates to the acts of the accused person, knowledge and intention, stating and/or suggesting the inference that he committed the crime charged. See Solomon Thomas Akpan v. The State (1992) 6 NWLR CPL 248) 439, Yesufu v. The State (1976) 6 Sc. 167, Obasi v. State NMLR 129.”
