Watford striker, Isaac Success and Liverpool on loan attacker, Taiwo Awoniyi have both sent signals to Super Eagles Manager, Gernot Rohr about their readiness to feature in the back to back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya next month.
Rohr’s Super Eagles have lacked the killer instinct in recent times with goal poachers like Odion Ighalo and Kelechi Iheanacho shying away in front of goal thus forcing the coach to spread his dragnet in search of sharpshooters.
The Eagles gaffer has already extended invitation to Mainz 05 striker Anthony Ujah and Success and Awoniyi who have been consistent with their clubs the season have caught the attention of the German who is looking for replacement for Chelsea’s Victor Moses who has retired from international football.
Although Watford who are fourth on the English Premiership log crashed out of this year edition of Carabao Cup after losing 4-2 to Tottenham Hotspurs on penalties last Wednesday,Success scored the first goal of the game one minute into the second half but with nine minutes left to play in the game, Spurs levelled through Dele Alli who scored via the spot.
Success again netted his spot kick but watched helplessly as his teammates missed theirs before Spurs scored the vital kick to seal progression to the next round of the competition formerly called Carling Cup.
Awoniyi on his own part ended a six game barren run in front of goal for Gent with a brace in their 4-2 cup win over Excelsior Virton in the Beker Van Belgie.
Awoniyi wasted no time in giving his team an early lead but Virton went into the break level at 1-1, a lead which Gent regained three minutes after the half hour mark but soon lost it again in the 78th minute.
The Super Eagles will meet Libya on October 13 in Uyo and the return leg will be played in Tunisia four day later.
