Nigeria U20 coach Paul Aigbogun has stated that the Super Eagles’ determination and teamwork were responsible for their away win against Libya on Tuesday.
A brace from Odion Ighalo plus Ahmed Musa’s strike helped Nigeria to a 3-2 away win against the Libyans in Sfax, with the former Enyimba man disclosing that had the Eagles not possessed both virtues it would have been difficult for them to secure a positive result.
“It was a great show of determination and teamwork by the Eagles to still have the tenacity and the willingness to secure a win after the Libyans staged a comeback in the game,” Aigbogun told Goal.
“The Eagles have shown that it is not how far but how well. Many people thought that the Eagles have been written off after they were beaten 2-0 at home by South Africa but they have done great amazing work to get maximum points from their next three games including two away wins.
“They will secure the Afcon ticket if they are able to pick a draw against South Africa in November and what this has told us is that with determination and teamwork things can go our way. The Eagles have exhibited that with the results they have got since the home loss to the Bafana Bafana.”
Meanwhile, former Super Eagles star, Moses Kpakor told Daily Trust yesterday that the team will miss the services of their defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi against South Africa.
The former BCC Lions captain however said Coach Gernot Rohr shouldn’t have any problem finding Ndidi’s replacement from the star-studded squad.
