By Gabriel Enogholase BENIN CITY —  PEOPLES Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial candidate for Edo South senatorial district in next month’s general election, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, has explained that PDP was not competing with All Progressives Congress, APC, but against the visible underdevelopment, hunger and sufferings currently being experienced in the country caused by APC.

Urhoghide, who is Chairman, Senate Committee on Public Accounts, made the explanation at a campaign rally of his party at Abudu, the headquarters of Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State,  weekend. He appealed to the people to re-elect him so he can add to the existing constituency projects he had attracted to the locality. He said: “During my first three years in the Senate, I have attracted over 600 physical infrastructure to my constituency, which include bridges and culverts across rivers and streams, boreholes, roads construction, maternity/heath centres, transformers, solar street lighting systems, town/multipurpose halls and scholarships for 268 beneficiaries in secondary and institutions of higher learning. “I have also empowered over 3,753 youths and women who were trained in various human capacity development programmes, gave 80 petty traders a no interest and non refundable loan, distributed various tools for business set ups to 318 people among others. Meanwhile, the Enogie of Ehor, HRH Daniel Igiehon has endorsed the re-election bid of Urhoghide. Igiehon also endorsed other PDP candidates for the state House of Assembly and National  Assembly polls.
