The Director-General, Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, on Sunday, said those who participated in parallel congresses were not true members of the All Progressives Congress.

Okechukwu, who spoke with our correspondent in Enugu, was reacting to parallel elections recorded during the party’s ward, local government and state congresses.

He said the development would not affect APC’s chances in the 2019 elections because those who organised the parallel congresses were not genuine members of the party.

“The so-called parallel congress members, under closer scrutiny, are not truly APC members,” Okechukwu said.

The VON DG declared that President Muhammadu Buhari would get more than one million votes in the South-East in 2019.

According to him, the threats posed to the APC by the New Peoples Democratic Party bloc in the ruling party would be countered by the South-East votes.

He said, “President Buhari will get more than a million votes in the South-East.  We got less than 200,000 in the South-East in 2015, but with the rapid infrastructural development going on in the zone, we will get more votes in 2019 because Igbo people are not ingrates.

“We will cover the missing gap envisaged from the  nPDP in the North.”

“The mainstream APC in the South-East today are in league with President Buhari; they are passionate to re-elect him and we are excited with the response of the electorate,” he added.
