The Akwa Ibom State Government has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, to take the state by force through the use of security agencies and thugs.
The allegation followed recent utterances of the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole and Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo of capturing the state by force.
State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh in statement, yesterday, said “The recent actions and utterances of the APC in state can be fittingly described as an outright declaration of a civil war on the government and people of Akwa Ibom State. “These developments have assumed an unprecedented dimension especially since the last National Assembly and Presidential elections where the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, clinched all National Assembly seats in Akwa Ibom State “The volume of boastful pronouncements of the much vaunted plot to capture Akwa Ibom by force; even if it means spilling human blood and destroying properties, reached a crescendo with the reckless utterances of Oshiomhole and some unfortunate remarks which are shockingly credited to Vice President Osinbajo, who a number of Nigerians had seen as a God-fearing man.
“While we discountenance the statements credited to the Pastor and Vice President, we are however, embarrassed that Oshiomhole matched his boasts with action by sending truck loads of Edo State-born thugs and hoodlums from Benin to Akwa Ibom State.
