NO fewer than 14 small-scale enterprises sprang up during this year’s edition of Ready Set Work Project, RSW, of the Lagos State government which ended last Saturday.
The enterprises which cut across agriculture, healthcare, foods and beverages, footwear, information and communication technology, among others include Gegeto Nigeria Ltd, Quailway Farms, Snail Factory enterprises, E-Force, Glow Palace Skin Care, Agri-green, Eko Laundry, Health checking, and Tomy Candy Cakes, and so forth.
They demonstration was done at a Business Pitch Competition held for that purpose at the Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, to end the 13- week intensive training for 2018 with a team of panelists as judges to select the three most convincing business plans for sponsorship by the state government.
In his remarks at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, whose office the scheme is domiciled, explained the selection criteria, saying the panel was looking for business ideas that are most cost-effective, realistic, profitable, employment generation and impactful to the society.
He said only the best three that met the conditions would be announced at an award ceremony where the state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode would present to them their prizes as start-up funds on behalf of the state government.
While listing LASU, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, AOCOED, Ijanikin; Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Epe, MOCPED, Lagos College of Heath Technology, Yaba, University of Lagos, Akoka, Caleb University, Imota and Yaba College of Technology as participating schools, Bank-Olemoh thanked the 500 volunteers who are professionals in various fields for what he called their selfless service in training all the 2,000 students free of charge.
Meanwhile, the participants of the programme at LASU centre with 115 points won the global challenge for the year, beating their counterparts from UNILAG(100 points) and LASPOTECH (90 points) to second and third position, respectively.
