Operation Puff Adder arrests nine criminals, recovers 200 cows on Abuja-Kaduna Highway —Police
Operatives of Operation Puff Adder say they have arrested nine kidnappers on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway and recovered 200 cows from the criminals.
They also said they recovered two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 54 rounds of live ammunition and five Dane guns, among others, from them.
A press release signed by the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, DCP Frank Mba on Monday, said the feat was achieved through “The unwavering determination of the Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Mohammed Adamu, to rid the country of kidnapping and other heinous crimes.”
Providing the details of the encounter, the statement reads, “In the latest development, a combined team of Police operatives attached to Operation Puff Adder on the 11th May, 2019 arrested nine kidnap suspects and recovered two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, 54 rounds of live ammunition, five dane guns, and 200 stolen cows.”
The statement lists the names of the kidnap suspect as: Ayuba Lawal, Saidu Bello, Abdullahi Bello, Adamu Lawal, and Umar Sani, all males and indigenes of Dan Musa LGA of Katsina State.
“They were arrested at Kudaru Forest in Lere LGA of Kaduna State following credible intelligence and support from the locals in the community,” the statement noted.
“Other suspects, Muhammed Sani, Jibrin Shehu, Usman Sani, Musa Garba, all males, were similarly arrested at Akilbu forest around Chikwale in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.
“All the suspects have made useful statement to the Police on their involvement in a series of kidnap cases on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway,” the statement added.
The statement informed that the IGP has commended the people for their cooperation and support to the Police, “and has assured that with the consistent support by the public, the war against kidnapping and other heinous crimes in the country will certainly be won in no distant time.”
